NGRAVE created a cryptographic puzzle of two agnostic plates: if someone finds one of the plates, they have zero information on your actual key, because both plates are required to recover the key. GRAPHENE allows you to finally safekeep each part in a different location as an additional measure of security.

A backup of your backup without third party risk
Why should losing your backup mean game over? Not on NGRAVE’s watch: we’ve added an “Ultimate Recovery Code” just in case you would lose your upper plate. Each upper plate configuration is unique and personal, and can be recovered in case of loss. As NGRAVE (or any other third party) has no information on your lower plate, your secret key remains safe.
Additional Lower Plate
Make extra backups by punching your key into multiple lower plates. While the upper plate can be recovered by NGRAVE, we don’t know your lower plate configuration. We highly recommend making at least one additional backup.

Create your perfect key
Create your NGRAVE Perfect Key on ZERO. This key has a 64 character hexadecimal format, meaning that each individual character value ranges from 0-9 and A-F.
The NGRAVE Perfect Key is BIP39 compatible. This means that every Perfect Key has its 24 word mnemonic phrase equivalent, which you can find in the settings of your ZERO.
Punch your key in GRAPHENE
Bring your upper and lower plate together and use the NGRAVE punch pen to make a hole in each of the 64 columns. Every column represents one character of the secret key, and when both plates are perfectly aligned on top of each other, you can read off your key.
Split both plates & hide them separately
It is highly recommended to store and safeguard each plate separately if you want to benefit from the GRAPHENE's double security layer.
